WHAT DOES WET-ON-WET MEAN?

The term wet-on-wet or wet-into-wet simply refers to a means of painting in which paint is applied and/or blended into wet paint that has been previously applied to the surface. Wet-into-wet painting techniques are a primary virtue of oil painting. The alternative to wet-on-wet is wet-on-dry; a means of painting directly onto a dry surface without blending into wet paint.
